What We Are Doing and Why?
Two Men, 24 hours and a month's supply of Sugar!
On October 27th 2007 myself and my good friend Tom Beaver, will cycle 240 miles from West London to Snowdonia, before completing the toughest marathon in Europe in less than 24 hours! We will consume only foods FREE of any refined sugar and will be raising money for the Paediatric Liver Transplant ward of King's College Hospital London.
In the process we will be burning the amount of calories that a british school child consumes in sugar, every month.
Recent statistics have shown that the some british school children are consuming over 40% of their daily calories in refined sugar alone! A substance that has no nutritional value and that has been proven to actually decrease our immune system, weaken children's bone strength and rob our body of nutrients as we attempt to digest it.
The Tour de Sucre will show just how much sugar are children our currently eating, and smash the myth that you NEED sugar for optimum sporting performance.
We urge you to learn about sugar via the site, try The Sugar Challenge, and/or contribute to some of the bravest families and children in Britain by donating to our designated charity, The Starfish Appeal for King's College Hospital, London.
